Game Review
Borussia Dortmund edged out Hamburger SV in a thrilling Bundesliga encounter, securing a 3-2 victory at home. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with Dortmund ultimately prevailing thanks to a late surge. This result was somewhat expected given Dortmund's stronger position in the league, but Hamburger SV put up a commendable fight. The game began with Hamburger SV taking an early lead through Philip Otele in the 19th minute. Albert Sambi Lokonga (GAP -1.0%) doubled their advantage in the 38th minute, putting Dortmund on the back foot. However, Dortmund responded in the second half with a tactical shift that saw Ramy Bensebaini introduced from the bench. His impact was immediate and decisive, as he scored twice in the 73rd and 84th minutes. Sehrou Guirassy also found the net in the 78th minute, completing Dortmund's comeback. Dortmund's lineup saw several changes, with Carney Chukwuemeka, Sehrou Guirassy, Julian Brandt, Fábio Silva, and Ramy Bensebaini coming off the bench to make significant contributions. The home team's manager opted for these changes to inject fresh energy and tactical flexibility, which paid off handsomely. On the other side, Hamburger SV made five substitutions, including Damion Downs and Jean-Luc Dompe, as they sought to maintain their early lead. Despite their efforts, they couldn't withstand Dortmund's relentless pressure in the latter stages of the match. Key performances included Gregor Kobel (GAP +5.2%), who was instrumental in goal for Dortmund, and Julian Ryerson (GAP +3.2%), who provided stability in defense. Maximilian Beier (GAP +3.3%) also played a crucial role in Dortmund's attacking transitions. This victory keeps Borussia Dortmund in a strong position in the Bundesliga standings, while Hamburger SV will need to regroup and focus on their upcoming fixtures to climb the table. The result highlights Dortmund's resilience and depth, as they continue to push for a top finish this season.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
